It's important to set aside a night of beauty each week. Let this be your time to nourish and pamper yourself. Take at least one or two hours to cleanse, steam, deep clean, replenish and moisturize you face and neck. Take a bath. Mentally affirm that you are releasing all negativity and blocks. Have a daydream about the ideal you. Create a new reality. It's good for your body, soul and appearance.
You can buy herbs that are specifically meant for steaming, like Swiss Kris. I also buy facial steam herbs from Angelica's herbs and school. If you don't have the right herbs or oils its fine; just boil some water and let it simmer down. (Please use common sense, don't scald your face.) With a large towel, cover your head as you hold your head over the pot about 6 to 8 inches above the steaming water. Steam your face for about 10 minutes. It will really open the pores and brighten your complexion. Immediately after this, while your pores are still open, apply a mud or clay mask to your entire face and neck. Make sure the mask is as pure as possible, meaning you don't need fancy fragrances in it. Ahave Dead Sea Mask is good and you can probably find an all-natural mud mask at your local health food store. Follow the instructions. Apply a moisturizing mask (again, your local health food store should have one). Better yet, make your own. You can find many different recipes in natural cosmetic books and I'm sure online as well. During the mud and moisture mask portion of the evening, make sure you have some healing/relaxation CDs, and have a great daydream... you're happy, in your ideal situation... really get into it.
Now it's time for a bath. Fill the tub and add Epsom salt because this will change any negative energy to positive and ease any tired muscles. It also helps rid your body of radiation, which makes it great to use after a plane ride. Add a spoonful of baking soda because this will cleanse your aura. Add some aromatherapy, essential oil essentials w/ lamp burner or chakra oils, or, whatever else you like, but try and make it as natural as possible. Besides using my own oils, I also love all the Kniepp products and Vitabath is a good, old faithful. Have music on and soak and dream away. Get into bed early and get good night's sleep. Maybe do a meditation or visualization for radiant beauty before bedtime. Remember that whatever you go to sleep thinking about is what you will energetically keep with you all night, so even if it was a bad day think positive thoughts before bed; visualize yourself or your situation as you want it, not what it necessarily is.
Facial exercises
Your face is made up of interconnected, voluntary muscles that control facial expressions of happiness, passion, satisfaction, anger, sadness and so on. Given this fact, it makes sense that toning the muscles of your face will improve your appearance. Facial exercises are a safe, effective alternative to cosmetic surgery. The following are some widely used exercises that will bring positive results when practiced regularly.
The natural face lift
Facing a mirror, open your mouth and, while tightening your cheek muscles, move your mouth as far as you can to the right and then the left. Then, puff up your cheeks with your mouth closed, sort of as if you were blowing something up. Repeat at least two times, twice a day.
Chin tuck
Holding your head and neck up, slowly pull your chin and head back and then forward as far as you can. Repeat several times. Then, with your shoulders back and head held high, use the back of your hand to tap under your chin. Repeat several times.
Chin definition
Lift your chin, stick out your tongue and try to touch your nose. Repeat several times.
Sinus drainage
Using the tips of your middle and index fingers, apply pressure first on the inside of your browbones and then underneath your cheekbones. When you begin, feel around until you experience sensitivity to the pressure. Push in and up for thirty seconds. Repeat at your browbones.
Relaxing the face and neck
Let's face it, sometimes we all work and worry too much. When you experience a day fraught with pressure and anxiety, try the following relaxation technique. Crunch up your face as tightly as you can while squeezing your shoulders up and in. Hold for four counts and release. Repeat three times. Then, pretend your face, neck and body are like a rag doll's and shake everything loose. Don't forget about your hands and feet. Afterwards, do some light stretching... forward and backward and side-to-side.
Getting rid of toxins
You retain a lot of toxins in the skin cells of your face, so it's a good idea to massage your face every day. With the tips of your fingers, massage in a circular motion, concentrating on your chin, cheeks, temple, eye sockets and forehead. Where it hurts is where the toxins are being stored, so really work on those areas. Remember that when you release toxins you have to wash them away, so follow up by drinking plenty of water.
Anti-aging tips
These are pretty much common sense:
- Get eight hours of sleep as often as you can.
- Drink at least 4 to 6 glasses of water a day.
- Exercise. And, be active in general.
- Don't wear make-up when you don't have to and when you have to, wear as little as possible. The chemicals in them can contribute to aging. And try and use natural skincare and/or skincare that had a good percentage of herbal extras that are at active levels.
- Be a vegetarian.
- Eat mostly whole, organic foods.
- Do not smoke and limit alcohol intake.
- Give yourself cleansing masks on a regular basis and always wash and moisturize your face - morning and night.
- Be aware of your facial expressions. If you find you're tensing your facial muscles, affirm to yourself that your face is relaxed and soft.
- Give yourself facial massages on a regular basis. Moving out the toxins on a regular basis creates a noticeable difference. Ever notice how amazing your skin looks and feels after facial? Well, it's partly because you've had someone massaging your face for over an hour.
- Be happy. Studies show happy people look and feel younger, helping them to be healthier as they age.
- Breathe in pink. Visualize pink energy with every inhale. It gives a youthful glow to you and your skin.
- Fall in love. Even if you are already in a relationship, fall in love with that person all over again.
