We are what we think. If you think positive thoughts the world will reflect that back to you. "When it rains it pours", "the snowball effect" - it's all true. When you are negative and the world gives that back to you, you say to yourself, "See, life does suck" and you create more negative thoughts, which leads to yet more annoying things getting in the way of your health and happiness. We all get negative at times and that's fine. Just make sure to kick yourself out of it as soon as possible. Don't wallow. Even if you're faking at first, just get those negative thoughts out. You don't need them. Eckhart Tolle talks a lot about the "pain body". Remember, our body is really intelligent - when you are letting go of a behavior, even a negative one, it cries out, it doesn't want to "die" and tries to hold on. But just knowing this will help you overcome it. His book The Power of Now is very helpful in letting go of your pain body and in practicing presence. Besides positive thinking remember to smile and laugh as much as you can - it's very helpful to your state of mind, which in turn helps your physical body.
