Overcoming fear I've done some shamanic work with John Perkins, see his Shapeshifting tapes. He told me, "If you see something that frightens you, reach out and touch it". He also told me, "The world is as you dream it". I have taken both these ideas to heart with amazing results. There are so many kinds of fear depending on the situation. Some are survival based, and others are emotionally charged. But the messages about overcoming fear seem to be the same no matter what the source. When I was going through a period of deep grief and fear, I read the Pema Chodron book When Things Fall Apart in which she says not to be afraid of your pain, go straight into it, no avoidance. Becoming fearless comes from confronting the "fear". It is about being afraid but still moving forward anyway. It doesn't have to be hard or complicated. Getting over a fear could be as simple as visualizing yourself overcoming it. You could use colortherapy by imagining red energy glowing brightly from the base of your spine feeding you strength and courage. Know you can do it, it's a part of your journey. So even though it's not always comfortable to face your fear, be grateful for it and the opportunity to become better, stronger and wiser through the experience. Or, try creating a pink bubble in which you have overcome all fear. Also see, grounding and centering.
