Defining yourself by your pain/story

Defining yourself by your pain/story

Traditional therapy or talking things out can be a necessary part of your healing process (it was for me), but at some point you have to let go of your story. Let go of the medical definitions thrown at us daily by advertisements to explain why we have this or that disorder. I've been on a long healing journey with many different phases and have used many different techniques to "overcome" my particular life struggles, but the most helpful thing I've learned has come to me only recently. We only find things when we are ready to. And what I have come to terms with is that we have to forget our stories and definitions because in the end, it all comes down to energy. No matter what childhood or adult traumas you have gone through, if you break it down you are energetically wounded and that wound can be healed without replaying/re-enforcing the event(s). (see Energy Psychology) No matter what medical/psychological labels have been used to define you, you can help your situation by changing your energy using basic techniques for prevention and complementary care. The bottom line is that by defining yourself by your past or a label, you essentially lock yourself into this state. It's like you're making an agreement with yourself every time you tell someone, "I'm like this because when I was growing up... " or, "This is a real medical diagnostic so... " I don't apologize for saying this, but get over it and move on! I'm not saying stop medication for a life-threatening disease but I hope you get my meaning. I have overcome an unbelievable amount of emotional trauma in my life and I have the authority of personal experience to tell you that it's only your fear of letting this pain go that holds you in sickness, whether it's emotional or physical. Growing up, I watched a family friend cure herself of cancer after being given 6 months to live because the cancer had spread throughout her body. It's 30 years later and she's living a healthy and fulfilling life. She healed herself mostly through visualization, diet and a complete change of lifestyle. She moved to the country where she could focus on being better. I've also seen the difference in myself, from holding onto my past as opposed to how amazing my life has become since I let it go. On the other hand, I have unfortunately watched people close to me choose to stay in their pain and sickness and the results are heartbreaking and frustrating. One thing you have to learn if you choose the path of "energy medicine" is that not everyone in your life will make that choice and you have to respect that.

I am not saying that all emotional traumas can or should be forgotten, but you can relate to them differently and control their affect on your thoughts and actions. I am not saying all physical disease can be cured, but you can improve your situation through energy techniques that give you a better understanding of why you are sick, which may lead to a beautiful acceptance that has its own benefits, such as appreciating life and the people around you. If you are struggling with a terminal disease, I strongly suggest finding closure and harmony. You can also try the cleansing negativity visualization.

Remember, life is tough but that's the point. Every one of us has obstacles to overcome. The grass is greener on the other side... it's just not. It may not look like it to you, but not one person on this earth can avoid obstacles and that's the entire point. We are here to learn and grow.

We all share the same basic emotions and challenges. After traveling to many different places, I noticed how alike we all are. We all want to be loved, we all want to feel good about ourselves, we want to feel like we've achieved something, that people appreciate us, that we're not "missing out". We've got to ignore this media-crazy culture and appreciate our lives, the quiet victories, the loving moments and the quiet space that allows us to grow. A great mantra for life is "open, open, be open". If we are closed we can't grow, change or overcome. Try a visualization, such as cleansing the heart chakra or gratitude. Also try the energy medicine technique called holding your neurovasculars.

Also see The Power of Now, it discusses a lot about letting go of our "pain body".
