Color is light, an electromagnetic energy that comes in different wavelengths. When these wavelengths bounce off objects, they create light. Different speeds, intensities, absorbent and reflective qualities determine the colors you see. Your body is made up of this same energy. Within your body you have different energy centers that vibrate at different frequencies. The seven main energy centers are called chakras. Each chakra is directly associated with and affected by a specific color due to a unique frequency. Your chakras are responsible for much of your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. When these centers become weak or out of line, color is one of the most effective vibrational remedies to restore balance and strength to your system.
Chakras
There are seven main energy centers, or chakras, in your body. Each chakra has seven layers and has a life lesson that you must master as you mature and evolve. The chakras vibrate at frequencies that match the frequencies of their corresponding colors. This is why color so strongly affects your energy system. We all have an innate knowledge of what color energies we need on a daily basis, and make aesthetic choices accordingly. The alignment and strength of your chakras is crucial to the electromagnetic field, or aura, that surrounds your physical body. The strength of your auric field reflects your overall health and effectiveness in leading a happy, healthy, successful and positive life.
Things that weaken the auric field are drugs and alcohol, stress, negative thought patterns and a poor diet.
Things that strengthen the auric field are exposure to nature, sunshine, exercise, meditation, positive visualization and vibrational remedies.
Brief overview of the chakras
7th or Crown – This is the center where you connect with your source. White energy purifies, cleanses and rids us of negativity.
6th or Third Eye – This is the center of knowledge and understanding that enables us to "see" intuitively. Violet energy helps us to see things for what they are.
5th or Throat – This is where we find our higher potential and manifest our dreams. Blue energy encourages you to live and speak your truth and to trust your path.
4th or Heart – This is where matter and spirit merge and your masculine and feminine energies meet. Green is about love and using thoughts and actions to generate love. It helps you let go of grief and anger and allows you to forgive.
3rd or Solar Plexus – This is your intellectual body and the center of your self-esteem. Yellow energy stimulates thought and supports your inner power.
2nd or Spleen – This is the center of emotion and power in your body. Orange energy helps you regain power in your life and reconnect with your inner wisdom.
1st or Base – This is your connection to family and the earth. Red energy grounds you and gives you a sense of security.
